| Aceweb Internet
Adds Bandwidth and Services
Business Editors & Technology Writers
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001--
Aceweb Internet (http://www.aceweb.net),
a Los Angeles based Internet service provider, announced today
that it has upgraded its Internet infrastructure by installing
twenty-four pairs of fiber optic and dual-redundant OC-3 hardware.
The new configuration gives Aceweb the ability to provide up
to 155 megabits of bandwidth per pair of fiber. The additional
bandwidth
has enabled Aceweb to make available a variety of new Internet
connection and web hosting services. The company will be offering
dedicated server and co-location options that will allow clients
to house their own web servers at Aceweb's Los Angeles data center.
In addition to bandwidth, Aceweb will offer various service and
support packages hosting to its clients.
Aceweb will also be offering dedicated T-1 (DS-1) and T-3 (DS-3)
lines for clients that require high-speed Internet connections
at their own facilities,
allowing them to host high-traffic websites or provide high-speed Internet
access to their employees.
The new infrastructure and bandwidth capabilities will now allow Aceweb Internet
to compete with the major Internet backbone providers and co-location facilities.
The increased bandwidth was also necessary, in large part, to meet the increased
traffic at SoftwareArchives.com (http://www.softwarearchives.com), which
is the portal to all of the operating system archives maintained by Aceweb
Internet.
The SoftwareArchives network has been significantly expanded in recent months,
with the addition of sites for BeOS(R), Macintosh(R), Java(R), Windows2000(R),
and computer game software. The additional sites, as well as the growing
popularity of the existing Windows NT(R), Windows CE(R), Linux(R), and Palm
Pilot(R) sites,
has greatly increased the network's traffic.
Aceweb obtained their bandwidth from InterNAP Network Services (http://www.internap.com).
Aceweb originally switched its Internet backbone connection to InterNAP in
1999, and has found that InterNAP's unique traffic-routing technology has
significantly reduced packet loss and increased overall traffic speeds on
the network.
