SoftwareArchives.com upgrades Internet backbone connection

Los Angeles - March 27, 2000

Aceweb Internet today announced that due to increased traffic, they have upgraded their Internet backbone connection for the second time in 12 months. The increased traffic was, in large part, to its main portal SoftwareArchives.com (http://www.softwarearchives.com), which is the gateway to all of the operating system archives maintained by Aceweb Internet. The network traffic has been growing in excess of 15 % per month, and nearly 40% of the unique users are downloading software from the site.

The SoftwareArchives network has been significantly expanded in recent months, with the addition of sites offering BeOS®, Macintosh®, Java®, CGI, and computer game software. The additional sites, as well as the growing popularity of the existing Windows NT®, Windows CE®, Linux®, and Palm Pilot® sites, has greatly increased the network traffic. This increase in traffic exhausted the resources of the existing connection and forced an upgrade to improve user access and download speeds.

Aceweb will be obtaining the additional bandwidth from InterNAP Network Services (http://www.internap.com). Aceweb originally switched its Internet backbone connection to InterNAP in 1999, and has found that InterNAP’s unique traffic-routing technology has significantly reduced packet loss and increased overall traffic speeds on the network.
